REALTIME HEADS HOME TO ROAD AMERICA FOR LATEST ROUNDS OF GT WORLD CHALLENGE AMERICA
RealTime Racing (RTR) is riding a wave of positive momentum into its home track this weekend: Road America. The latest rounds of the Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS will take place in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin, a mere 30 minutes away from the RealTime shop in Saukville.
The last time RTR raced in World Challenge at Road America, in 2019, it came away with its 100th race victory. The team hopes to put on another memorable performance in front of its home crowd, especially after scoring its first podium of the season in the most recent event at Watkins Glen International.
If you’re in the Elkhart Lake area on Thursday, August 18, be sure to head downtown at 5pm local time for the car parade and welcome party.
Erin Vogel, Driver
“Gaining our first podium of the season shows that we’re making progress with understanding the car, and it was definitely the right way to enter the second half of the season. Hopefully we’ll see a few more podiums before the year is through.
“I love Road America. I’ve raced there with various series over the past four years, and it’s a track I look forward to every year. The track is fun and challenging, plus the town and the fans it draws are always some of my favorite of the season.
“I know how ardently the team and the fans would like to podium here, would like to win at Road America, but it’s also very motivational for us, so I think we can turn that pressure into positive energy that will hopefully propel us forward!”
Michael Cooper, Driver
“It was great to get up onto the podium at Watkins Glen. Erin did an incredible job in her stint to get us up into the top five which really enabled that result. It’s a great springboard into the second half of the season.
“The NSX GT3 has always performed well at Road America. It’s a great car. The most challenging aspect of Road America, in general, is having a car that is balanced and behaves well over a long run. The track has everything, so you want a car with good straight-line speed, good in fast corners, good in slow corners, good under braking etc. and it’s tricky to achieve the perfect setup. I wouldn’t say there is extra pressure being RealTime’s home track, but it would be extra rewarding to get a strong result for everyone at home.”
Peter Cunningham, RTR Team Owner
“It’s great to have a race event at your home circuit. Road America is a favorite of so many racing drivers and teams from around the world. It’s a 640-acre national park located in our backyard! And the local Wisconsin fans cheering on our RealTime Acura team always gives us an extra boost!”
