REALTIME RACING BACK IN ACTION AT VIR
RealTime Racing returns to Fanatec GT World Challenge America powered by AWS racing this weekend at VIRginia International Raceway in Alton, Virginia.
RealTime is no stranger to the 3.27-mile road course, scoring six World Challenge victories there over the years, including the team’s last visit, in 2019.
Drivers Erin Vogel and Michael Cooper have a similar fondness for the circuit. The duos most recent victory came at VIR last season, where Vogel became the first woman to win in the Pro-Am category globally in any GT World Challenge championship.
Erin Vogel, Driver
“I still try to approach each race weekend in the same way: without expectations! Anything can happen in racing, the best plans are easily thwarted, and even poor planning or a struggling car can be elevated through luck and circumstance. Of course, we’re always chasing the win, and I absolutely love VIR as a racetrack and as a venue, so I’m very much looking forward to racing there and, as always, I hope we are successful!”
Michael Cooper, Driver
““It’s always exciting when we are heading to VIR, especially having won there in GT3 last year and GT4 the year prior. The win last year is a nice memory for Erin and me. It was her first SRO victory and also the first time a woman won in SRO Pro-Am competition. We’ll all be starting from scratch this week but certainly we are looking to put in a repeat performance.
“The NSX has always had good speed. With VIR having a few long full throttle runs, we are hoping that plays into our hands this weekend.”
Peter Cunningham, RTR Team Owner
“It’s always great to return to such a beautiful part of the country and for the drivers to experience such a challenging, undulating circuit.
“RealTime first competed at VIR 20 years ago at the 2002 season finales for the GT and Touring Cars. It was quite a memorable and successful weekend!
“I’m looking forward to this weekend rooting Erin and Michael on as they fight for victory!”
